ABSTRACT

These six cubes are choice menus based on six different learning preferences and may be used over and over again. Each cube focuses on a different element of literature, non-fiction, or poetry, and contains a variety of project ideas based on general learning preferences. Apply them to almost any piece of literature and use them again and again. Use cubes as extensions for depth and complexity, to engage students with choice, or as jigsaws in which different groups collaborate to produce products and then share them with the entire class. “Flat” cubes function like menus. Cut them out and tape them into a three-dimensional cube, however, to ratchet up the difficulty. Roll the cube, and whatever ever choice comes up on top becomes the project.
