ABSTRACT
In this chapter, students think critically about conflict in literature through graphic organizers, create a three-dimensional multi-tool metaphor, advertise their multi-tools using graphic design, write a short-constructed response, and share their creation while addressing speaking and listening standards. This chapter is both challenging and engaging and adaptable to other grade levels—not just Grade 5. The activities can be applied to any piece of fiction, including both short stories and novels.
