ABSTRACT

Too often, special educators neglect their own well-being and self-care in order to meet the countless demands of their jobs. This chapter includes strategies to help special education teachers achieve a better work-life balance and take extravagant care of themselves. Special educators will receive tools to identify a clear pathway to self-care and self-kindness. Another chapter theme is the maintenance of boundaries and routines to support special education teachers in maintaining healthy habits and wholeness. This is imperative in sustaining themselves and preventing the job from eclipsing all other sources of joy in their lives. This chapter is loaded with practical, enjoyable activities to support special educators in managing stress, finding well-being, cultivating inner peace, and letting go of struggle. This may sustain special education teachers in their work and improve general outcomes for their lives in general.
