ABSTRACT
The study concludes with a manual for determining and then working with your own pivotal line for a play. Then, two examples are offered: one where an audience collaborated with the director and actor in discovering a pivotal line in Romeo and Juliet, and the other where two elderly spectators discovered their own pivotal line at the end of Ionesco’s Rhinoceros which they had woven into the tragic fabric of their own lives.
