ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the various issues involved with safety on a film or television set. It begins with discussing the safety manager’s’ duties and responsibilities during pre-production and production. The role of OSHA is discussed along with other personnel that deals with safety, including the 1st AD, set medic, and armorer. The process of conducting weapon safety checks is included, along with what to do in cases of emergency. The chapter also covers various safety issues, including working with animals and children, water and electricity, weather issues, and sleep deprivation. Finally, the chapter covers the use of Industry-Wide Labor-Management Safety Committee Safety Bulletins and how they provide valuable guidelines for various safety issues.
