Where sustainable yields from renewable resources are improved with technological progress, sustainability can endure long term even where or when population increases.

This chapter reviews improvements in renewable energy technology in line with the seventh principle of the Sustainable Development Proposition. The chapter provides a review of the current renewable energy technology available to rural and remote communities and focuses on technology that can operate in a stand-alone micro-grid system, otherwise known as a non-network solution or off-grid solution.
