ABSTRACT

Lacquer cutting is the initial and one of the most critical steps in vinyl record manufacturing. It requires a combination of technical expertise and artistic sensibility to create a high-quality product. The final vinyl record will reflect every detail of the lacquer cut, ensuring the listener experiences the music as the artist intended. During this process, the cutter transfers music onto a blank lacquer disc. The quality of the lacquer cut determines the final sound quality of the vinyl record, and the task is crucial for creating high-quality records. The lacquer-cutting engineer must have a strong understanding of the music and the cutting equipment. This process requires meticulous attention to detail, setting precise volume levels, equalization, and overall sound balance.
