ABSTRACT
The tradition of vinyl DJing has roots in the early days of radio broadcasting when disc jockeys would spin records and introduce listeners to new music. With the rise of electronic dance music in the 1970s and 1980s, DJs became a vital component of the club scene. They used their skills to manipulate and mix vinyl records in real-time. Despite the advent of digital DJ technology, many DJs still prefer to work with vinyl, as they find that it offers a level of tactile control and creative expression that is difficult to replicate using digital tools. Vinyl DJs’ ability to create a unique and immersive musical experience for their audience and their knowledge of music history and the art of mixing is highly valued. This chapter highlights the importance of preserving the art of vinyl DJing, which maintains the cultural heritage of music and contributes to its evolution. Vinyl DJs continue to play a vital role in shaping the musical landscape and providing unique, immersive experiences for audiences.
