ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the authors describe the differences between micro-level, structural, and intersectional theories to highlight the approaches commonly used when studying social behavior. Following this description, the chapter outlines how grounded theory is used when the social scientist is not sure what they will find. This chapter then explores several theories that explain the existence of homelessness in the twenty-first century.
