ABSTRACT

The tandem hybrid social enterprise is designed to grow into a large-cap organization with a world-changing mission. This chapter looks at what’s involved in scaling up the organization in ways that sustain it for generations and goes into detail about three key components: Understanding the difference between scaling and growing, creating a unified corporate culture, and building a team of committed stakeholders. This last section identifies stakeholders and their roles in a tandem hybrid. Equity stakeholder are partners, stockholders, and investors. Non-equity stakeholders could be employees, customers, vendors, contractors, consultants, coaches, the local community. As with other chapters, this chapter includes insights from Scott Boyer’s tandem hybrid—OWP Pharmaceuticals and the ROW Foundation—on the importance of having a powerful vision and how to scale up an organization to pursue that vision for generations to come.
