ABSTRACT
In this section of the book, attention turns to specific strategies of argument that may be used in appropriate circumstances. We will be talking about argumentation schemes. They have been introduced in earlier examples, but now there is detailed discussion of their nature, types, and criteria of evaluation. We begin with appeal to threat or fear. Another controversial type of argument, but one in frequent use.
