ABSTRACT

This chapter presents six case studies authored by social therapeutic practitioners in the United States and Mexico. The intention is to illustrate innovative applications of social therapeutics. The first two are on single topics—dementia, followed by race and class in the US. They show how to see and work with the heterogeneity within the group, including participants’ diverse levels of emotional, cognitive and relational development. This is followed by case studies on three groups with international participants, including a youth group run on the messaging platform WhatsApp (i.e., without a video element). The final example is set in the workplace with a look at social therapeutic team coaching.
