ABSTRACT

This chapter considers how we can support and improve our wellbeing as learners when we are learning on our own. It may be that our learning is happening partly or even mainly in groups with other co-learners, but there will still be times when we are learning in a more solitary setting. It may alternatively be that we find ourselves as either mainly or entirely solitary learners for a time. The activities and ideas in this chapter are relevant to both learning situations. Whilst the focus in this chapter is on what we can do to self-support as learners managing our own wellbeing, it should always be kept in mind that maintaining good wellbeing is a collective responsibility and effort; the families, friendship networks, communities, employers and organisations around us and that we may be part of all have an important role to play in wellbeing
