ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with the author examining the difference between the historical and theatrical sword blocks and parries. The author also discusses the debate between edge parries and flat blade parries and looks at the numbering system and the use of names. Static blocks and active blocks are explored before breaking down the different types of sword blocks and parries in all lines, including high line, middle line, and low line blocks in static forms. The author looks at reinforced parries and blocks and provides information on specialty blocks and actions. The chapter closes out with drills and closing comments.
