ABSTRACT

This chapter is entirely devoted to the critical review of the existing biographies, strictly factual and more fictional, published about F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. This chapter further underlines the necessity for establishing a viable theory on this increasingly popular literary genre. Both the public and the academia are caught in the midst of the creative process, the cultural and literary developments of the time and the unprecedented availability of information and global communication. While this fosters understanding, it can also lead to possible misunderstandings or confusions on how to categorize similar narratives. When looked closer, the life-writing narratives seem to rise a never-ending inquiry as to how and what they portray. As a result, the new theory of biopreservation is applied.
