ABSTRACT

The profound effect of vocal levels needing to be very different for all screen work, especially compared with theatre work, is gone into and analyzed. Detailed explanation is given as to the importance of the microphone and its position for each different shot size. The modern problem of contemporary actors mumbling their lines, often whispering them, and the need for subtitles is explained. The problems caused by the use of accents and the need not to overlap dialogue are also addressed.
