ABSTRACT

Acknowledging you are a victim/survivor of domestic abuse/coercive control can be difficult. If appropriate and at the right time the following can be explored with the victim/survivor parent. When undertaking any work, it should be experienced as empathically supportive, not blaming or shaming. Many victims/survivors, whether they are still in the abusive relationship or have left, will continue to experience symptoms of trauma, use their established coping strategies and may find it hard to think positively about themselves.
