ABSTRACT

After constructive, comparative and corrective analysis, there is the need to divide our observation into two clear groups: ‘corrective’, where mix errors have been assessed, and ‘overview’, where the music’s general perspective is being examined. Both aspects have been observed in analysis simultaneously, but it is important to make this clear distinction to link our observations to processing outcomes. This action is described as contextual analysis, and the chapter makes clear how to take observations made in analysis and link them effectively to processing by contextualising the links. Discussion is broken down into stages to avoid repetition in processing. Principles around pathing and path ordering are explained to achieve an effective outcome where all processing applied works in sympathy. Fundamentals of equalisation order and dynamic placement are determined to detail the most effective construction of a transfer path from the processing selected.
