The chapter examines different policies and schemes related to migration and migrants in India. While some interventions by the Government may be direct, there are many indirect ways in which policies and schemes affect migration and migrants. Though there are several schemes to protect workers, lack of understanding of migrant workers often leads to failure in corroborating them in social security schemes. Empirical evidences and theoretical knowledge are thus necessary in order to make migrant-inclusive policies. This chapter is a step towards this direction, trying to understand some of the relevant issues.
