ABSTRACT

This chapter describes highlights the birth path in organizational terms, drawing it graphically as a Value System and, in terms as objective as possible, describing it in its core processes of preconception care, access to the birth path, labor, delivery, and puerperium. The chapter, moreover, highlights how the crisp and linear flow of the organizational process of the birth path hides pockets of unpredictability of action and complexity of (also lean) management that let the medical dimension of childbirth prevail.
