ABSTRACT

Once a business has achieved the task of creating a positive culture of innovation within its organisation, then its next challenge is to work to maintain this, because once achieved it can easily be eroded as new staff arrive and leaders change. Such maintenance requires significant discipline and a plan of action that must be regularly reviewed. Large company wide multidisciplinary projects which cut across functional silos, individual sites and country boundaries are great initiatives for building alignment around the cultural ideals of the business. The chapter ends with an in-depth interview with Professor Joe Haslam, Executive Director of the Owners Scaleup Program at IE Business School in Madrid, which focuses on helping start-ups to scale. Joe offers numerous examples from his own career on creating and maintaining the right culture for growth.
