ABSTRACT
Educational and developmental psychology is recognised as a discipline distinct from other areas of psychological science; however, there is little information that succinctly describes how one can become an educational and developmental psychologist. This chapter sets the scene for how education and developmental psychology is defined, provides an overview of the origins of educational and developmental psychology, discusses the historical development of educational and developmental psychology in Australia, and outlines some considerations for deciding to be an educational and developmental psychologist.
