ABSTRACT

Educational and developmental psychology is fast becoming an exceedingly popular field within psychology today. Focused training on neurodevelopment, learning, cognition, behaviour, and mental health across the lifespan holds relevance to many organisations and sectors. This includes early childhood intervention services (ECIS), academia, hospitals, older adult and aged care services, as well as the more obvious sectors such as early learning settings, schools, and tertiary institutions. The COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted the importance of educational and developmental psychologists in previously unimagined jobs within emerging technology sectors such as HealthTech and EduTech (companies distributing technology-enabled healthcare or educational products and services). This chapter will offer prospective or existing educational and developmental psychologists several ways and techniques for finding employment opportunities. In this chapter, you will find information regarding how and where to look for job listings. It also focuses on ways to market yourself to ensure that your unique skill set stands out among other applicants. Finally, sample cover letters that may be effective for applications are supplied.
