ABSTRACT

Professional associations play an essential role in promoting the interests of their members. They do this in multiple ways including by helping members maintain and increase their knowledge about new developments in the field. Additionally, they provide opportunities for networking among professionals with similar career and practice interests. Belonging to relevant professional associations will help build personal connections with peers, introduce you to highly respected practitioners/academics who are at the cutting edge of applied psychology, and keep you up to date with potential employers and working opportunities. This chapter explores relevant member groups and how they may be harnessed for benefits such as support for psychological practice, conferences, and scholarships.
