ABSTRACT

This chapter begins by exploring the ways in which the digital is creating inequalities, and offering some context for this. It outlines different forms of digital inequalities and then suggests that connected to such inequalities are injustices such as epistemic and hermeneutic injustice. The second section of the chapter argues for the need to explore radical digital citizenship in order to recognize that there needs to be politically informed understandings of the digital. The final section suggests means of mitigating against digital inequalities, based on recent research in this area. It is argued that areas that need to be considered are those of recognizing difference, including diverse voices, rethinking internationalization and understanding digital traces.
