ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 examines the idea of the postdigital, suggesting that for many it is not temporal, it is not ‘after’ digital; rather it is a critical inquiry into the state of the digital world. It then suggests four perspectives that might be taken towards the postdigital, not as separate entities but ones that are fluid and which overlap. The second section of the chapter considers how it might be possible to challenge universities to move towards the postdigital, through the lens of universities as playhouses, academics as fools and reimagining pedagogies for digital futures.
