ABSTRACT

This chapter analyses the impact of deception, hiddenness and the management of learning through algorithms on universities. It begins by exploring the issues of power, suggesting ways in which power affects the postdigital university. Next the chapter examines types of fake news and the ways these reinforce students’ perspectives, instead of them challenging the information they receive online in general. The final section of the chapter will explore the extent to which there is hope in light of the power, the platforms and the impact of fake news.
