ABSTRACT

This chapter goes deeper into analyzing the personality of Marilyn Monroe and the gap that emerges between her screen persona and her real “true” self. Using AI as a mediator, the chapter examines Monroe’s autobiography to better understand her childhood. Adopting the perspective of modern attachment theory, the LM talks with the Virtual Monroe to better understand her lack of a secure base, the anxiety it formed in her, and its painful consequences for the adult Monroe. Through the AI tool, it is possible to highlight the gap between Monroe’s true and false selves and to understand why diamonds cannot be a girl’s best friend.
