ABSTRACT

Peter Pan is one of the most iconic texts in children’s literature. This chapter explains why both psychoanalytic and various critical interpretations are limited in explaining the charm and interest of the text. Our AI talks virtually with two of the main characters in the play—Peter Pan and Wendy—to better understand the character of Peter and to unravel the reasons for his seemingly arrogant and self-sufficient personality. No less importantly, this chapter shows how the AI may prompt us to think differently about the text and to focus our attention on its less noticed aspects.
