ABSTRACT

For as long as people have been trying to influence others, the focus has been squarely on human behavior. Two old aphorisms have it that “actions speak louder than words” and that “talk is cheap, but action has value.” What conventional wisdom has been telling us for thousands of years is that we cannot often tell what people are thinking, but we can certainly observe their behavior. And, such wisdom tells us, behavior is a much surer measure of a person’s real intentions.
