ABSTRACT
The governance of what we call ‘permanent wars’, as ‘governance in general’, is done not merely via the fascist militias and the authoritarian state backing these rampaging militias but also via the Media Industry. What has happened is that finance capital, the fascist militias, the authoritarian state and the Media Industry have all converged together. What earlier we knew as ‘ideology’ we now know as the technological transfiguration of bourgeois ideology, ideology which rules through images, in fact phantasmagorical images, images which like in Mary Shelley’s masterpiece Frankenstein have created a human-turned-monster stitched uncannily from limbs stolen from corpses and through electric shock given life. This chapter also presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in this book. The book says that besides the incompetency of the Indian liberals and Stalinists, the Indian Maoists too offer no new alternative but only spectacles of violence.
