ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines what DME/2e is and how it relates to high learning potential. It includes a definition, with reference to asynchronous development discussed in the previous chapter, and looks at the statistics for DME/2e within the population. The chapter provides information about how to recognise DME/2e in a table format and then discusses the common barriers that children with DME/2e face. It discusses the needs that children with DME/2e have and how they can be supported. It includes examples of famous people with DME/2e in the UK and worldwide as well as how DME/2e is portrayed in the media.
