It discusses the raw materials that make up the foundation of the DME-C therapy approach called the 10 Golden Nuggets, which concerns the method through which occupational therapists provide therapy. Occupational therapists may coach the child with DME/2e and their parents to keep a diary of the main activities they engaged in on a particular day, and whether they felt calm, ready or “up to the task” in each particular activity or not. In other words, they diarise whether they could meet the occupational and/or self-regulatory demands of that particular activity or not. Occupational therapists can easily help children with DME/2e and their parents learn how to manage transitions, which has the potential to significantly reduce their related-anxiety and avoidance behaviours over time.
