ABSTRACT

The previous chapters show the benefits of moral ordering and how co-planning can help achieve them. While these views are valuable, a much more significant reason reveals additional insights that flesh out what is extraordinary about multi-stakeholder engagement in municipal districts: urban enlightenment. As mentioned during the outset, it applies the thought pattern behind Kant’s insights in “What is Enlightenment?” It reveals how urban dwellers and municipal professionals can use their understanding once it is enhanced to know how decisions in municipal operations affect other stakeholder groups (the results of co-planning). This chapter explains this process, arguing that urban enlightenment must hold steady as a continuous enterprise for residents who claim they love their city.
