ABSTRACT

Although participatory budgeting projects have found success worldwide, New York City’s Participatory Budgeting Project (PBP) has made remarkable strides. This grassroots measure aligns with moral ordering and shows how residents can undertake pursuits to put them on a path to urban enlightenment. It can significantly enhance the quality of urban life while supporting ambitions such as ethical sustainability and human flourishing. This chapter explores other kinds of cases that count as promising projects. The purpose of examining these cases is to show that urban dwellers can also begin practices, improving the quality of life, and showing how municipalities can begin to bolster municipal-community relations that promote urban enlightenment.
