ABSTRACT

Considering several stakeholder groups requires going beyond canonical tools that applied ethics has developed. This chapter examines moral extensionism’s lengthy history. Specifically, the issues associated with urban environments challenge the human/nonhuman dichotomy. Municipalities must take on matters that include marginalized and vulnerable people, the public, nonhuman species, future generations, and urban artifacts. As a novel approach, moral ordering can get the job done. This chapter exhibits how it is the next step to advancing this literature. Chapter 4 examines its structure.
