ABSTRACT

Creative dramatics are short plays and performances that use story elements but no written dialogue. They can be used to enhance learning in all curriculum areas. They tap into children’s natural inclination to play, pretend, and perform. Various types of writing evolve naturally from creative dramatics. These include miniplays, radio drama, actual plays, and screenplays. Each of these is described in this chapter. Two tips for using creative dramatics are to keep it simple and to have fun.
