ABSTRACT

Given the massive changes since the Industrial Revolution in the 1900s and the new concept of workforce management, the role of supervisors and their supervisory responsibilities have dramatically altered. The place and position of supervisors have become more critical and simultaneously more challenging for modern organizations. The rapidly changing work environment and the evolution of work itself are driving organizations to seek solutions and strategies to prepare their supervisors. Each slice of the Successful Supervisor Framework is a supervisor characteristic that can fluctuate based on environmental conditions, the team, and the supervisor's strengths. Diversity can be one of the most controversial and least understood business topics because of the issues regarding quality, leadership, and ethics. Soft skills continue to grow in demand, particularly the ability to understand the emotional and cognitive needs of others or to be empathetic. Empathy focuses on relationships. Empathy is recognized to be a critical management and leadership skill.
