ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the formation of the FFC and its initial functioning. Summarising its major successes and failures, the chapter deliberates upon the FFC/New Cinema's fight for acceptability in their first phase of existence. Some of the concerns that this chapter deals with are the FFC establishing itself as a model institution serving the film industry, its stress on artistic consideration as a criterion to sanction loans, the realisation of introducing the New Cinema movement, and evaluating the base created by the FFC for a healthy film revolution in India. The chapter constantly negotiates with government facts and figures and public dialogues on the Corporation and New Cinema.
