ABSTRACT
This chapter covers the disbursements side of the income statement. Over the seven intervals, the unions’ average total disbursements rose 7.5 percent. Net disbursements, in contrast, fell 23.5 percent. Only three unions had net disbursements above $300 million in 2018–2019. The unions’ administrative expenditures rose 14 percent, on average, over the seven intervals, while the compensation budget rose 15 percent. Average operating budgets climbed 18 percent comparing end to beginning periods. On average, the unions ended the 14-year time period spending relatively more on administration, compensation, and overall operations.
