ABSTRACT

The goal of the type of DEI education is to reason together and, while doing so, maximize learning, decrease division, and encourage action toward equity. A graphic presents the framework for DEI education and action. The brilliance of Lewin's approach is that the entire group is engaged in teaching, learning, and influencing. The learning method and the social goals of democracy, equity, and inclusion, using Lewinian methods, are one and the same. In democracy, as in any culture, the individual acquires the cultural pattern by some type of “learning.” Lewin crafted learning that engaged one's entire experience, cognitive, emotional, and “motoric”. Lewin's methods establish a reliable field of forces for DEI learning and for organizing toward equity action, and when done effectively, achieve dramatic results.
