ABSTRACT

Helping professionals may have many roles, including working with clients, consulting, teaching, and supervising. In this chapter, we focus on the role of the supervisor and how to apply that to the concerns of infertility and reproductive loss in the Hero's Journey. While working with pre-licensed professionals and students, the supervisor provides guidance, information, and insight. For the purpose of this particular supervisory journey, we’ll introduce a tri-level infertility supervision model which demonstrates the dynamic when one or more out of the triad (client, clinician/supervisee, or supervisor) are experiencing reproductive loss while the others are not. Finally, we suggest ways to help with a more comprehensive case conceptualization and include a list of questions to consider which might be helpful during supervision.
