ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the reason for writing this book. The Copernican revolution in brain science, caused by the discovery of the brain as a prediction organ, made it necessary to review and update the current neurocognitive explanations of autism. Although the predictive coding framework was developed two to three decades ago, the autism field only recently discovered it and until now almost exclusively in the academic world. Amongst parents of autistic children, practitioners and autistic people themselves predictive coding is still unknown. In a time were the world suffered from extreme levels of uncertainty, the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, a book about predicting in autism was created.
