ABSTRACT
This chapter is a brief introduction to this book. The intellectual genesis, theoretical background, research questions and contributions are presented. Each chapter is summarized at the end of this chapter. It shows that it is of great importance to explore various forms of trust among Chinese urban residents, the social capital possessed by them individually and in particular the impact of social capital on generalized trust, all of which are of immediate concern to our society today.
