ABSTRACT
This chapter analyzes the levels of functioning of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. First, the main attributes of the statehood of this de facto state are presented. Then, the author characterized the vectors of Tiraspol's foreign policy, beginning with an analysis of strategic documents and then focusing on patron–client relations. In addition, the separatist region's relations with the parent state were presented. Particularly emphasized the importance of Transnistria for the security of Ukraine (before and after the initiation of Russia's aggression against Ukraine in 2022).
