ABSTRACT

The Low Weight and Undereating module is explained in some depth in this chapter. The module is indicated for young persons with low weight and has two main goals: (1) weight restoration to above the minimum low healthy weight by consuming on average an extra 500 kilocalories of energy each day over and above what is needed to maintain a stable weight; (2) weight maintenance within a range of approximately 3 kilograms above the minimum low healthy weight. To help the young persons feeling in control during the weight regain process, they are actively involved in measuring and interpreting their weight, planning meals and snacks to regain the weight, real-time self-monitoring of eating, using cognitive behavioural strategies to address difficulties during meals, and managing the time after meals.
