ABSTRACT

This chapter offers a series of tips for journalists on aspects of self-care that they can implement intentionally into their daily lives, drawing on conversations had by the author with colleagues across the industry. Through insights from clinicians and colleagues, it considers the reality of reporting and the pressures of journalism, reminding readers that self-care is not selfish: it is important for good journalism. Recognising that this is not a substitute for medical advice or therapy, this chapter also offers options for those who want to know how to better watch out for and support their colleagues.
