ABSTRACT

Most teachers, indeed, have reached their position in life as a result of subscribing to this viewpoint. It is often very hard to face the reality that their values are not the only values, and that the importance that schools attach to learning is not always shared by their students. Some teachers see boredom as an inescapable aspect of school life. Sometimes, having been under-extended, they were themselves bored at school, in which case they do not imagine that it is possible to make lessons interesting all the time. The process of returning a school phobic to a school is always a slow one. Co-operation by the parents too is necessary and often extremely difficult to come by, as the parents are so rarely able to see what they are doing unintentionally to prevent their child attending school.
