ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on the impact of political economy on development and the environment during the post-independence era—in other words, due to development, the crises that have occurred in the environment, and how the political economy was being played around these issues. This chapter is divided into four sections. The second section discusses the political economy of development. The third section analyses the impact of the political economy on the environment, and the last section offers the concluding observations. Essentially, it deals with how the political economy has been behind the crises affecting both development and the environment during the post-independence period. In the end, the seventh chapter offers the concluding observations.
