ABSTRACT

Teaching and learning have significantly transformed as we move into the 21st century. The traditional view of teachers giving lectures and students being passive learners is no longer valid. Instead, teachers are now seen as facilitators, helping learners to learn and guiding them on how to learn. Furthermore, learning is no longer an individualistic activity but a collaborative one where learners work together to achieve their goals. The rise of technology has also changed the way we approach education. With the Internet, learners can learn from anywhere and use digital tools to read, write, and communicate. Teachers must now adapt to this new reality by reconsidering their approach to teaching and learning. They must reflect on transforming education for the 21st century, managing 21st-century classrooms, and practising 21st-century technologies. In this chapter, we will explore these topics in depth, and the following chapters of this book will cover 13 distinct learning types that teachers must understand and cultivate in their learners to prepare them for success in the 21st century.
